Gail Riggins
Artist/Painter
Gail Riggins has wanted to be an artist since she was six years old, but life had other plans. Her formal education was in Graphic Design, Public Relations, and Marketing, and she worked in those fields for much of her professional career. Some years ago, her pastor, who was an artist, encouraged her to pursue her artist dreams. Soon Gail was attending workshops wherever she could, eventually taking classes at the Berskin Gallery in Bettendorf, Iowa. Gail's art is influenced primarily by American Tonalists reminding us of memories that have the poetic power to last a lifetime. The goal of her art is to create landscapes inspired by glowing sunsets, quiet streams, misty mornings, warm summer days and crisp winter walks celebrating the endless wonder of God’s creation. Gail lives and paints in LeClaire, Iowa.
Artist’s Statement
“I was never sure that I could create the kind of art that I wanted to – the kind of art that creates an illusion of space, form, light, and atmosphere capable of fostering a memory or evoking an emotion; but with the patience of gifted instructors and the support of the artists that I paint with, I gain new confidence with every completed painting.”
